Beach Color

Don’t be afraid of color! Soft, airy pastels, deep, rich earth tones, and vibrant,
fun colors are all great options for a beach session. Choose what feels good
to you.

Instead of choosing a few specific colors for everyone to wear, look for col-
ors that work well together. I’ll share color palettes here and on my Pinterest
page for inspiration.

C OL OR C A UTIONS

Some colors don’t photograph well on the beach and can negatively affect
your look.

• Avoid neon and shiny materials which give off a strong color cast turning your
surrounding family odd colors.

• Minimize white which is see-through when wet and doesn’t photograph well. Off-
white or cream are better alternatives, especially those with a simple pattern or
texture,

• Khaki tends to be a popular color but it blends with the sand like beach
camouflage and doesn’t photograph well.

• Black absorbs heat and becomes very hot on the beach. Avoid in the summer.
