Matching the creativity of Ethan’s 1st flight-themed birthday party at the Pacific Aviation Museum, was no small feat, but Laura was ready to take on the challenge. Despite being on the east coast, she reached out to brainstorm ideas for 1st birthday party venues Oahu. In her quest for the perfect setting, Laura sought something casual, beautiful, and sweet.

It all comes together

After conducting extensive research, she successfully pulled off another splendid first birthday celebration. This event took the form of an afternoon tea garden party hosted at the historic Waioli Kitchen, nestled in the heart of Manoa Valley.

As the day unfolded, family and friends came together to enjoy great food and each other’s company. There was a little something for everyone to enjoy. At the celebration, guests had the opportunity to exercise their creative flair at a make-your-own bouquet station. Additionally, quizzes about the birthday girl added a personal touch, sparking conversations among attendees. For those with a competitive spirit, a bottle chugging contest was organized, bringing much laughter to the gathering.

The party was a sensory delight with an array of tasty treats including gourmet shave ice and iced-tea. Furthermore, the party thoughtfully catered to the youngest attendees, with the sweetest baby and toddler play area. Fortunately, this allowed parents to relax and enjoy the festivities.

Everything blended together perfectly to make it the ideal tea party, where love, laughter, and cherished memories filled the air.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing numerous special birthday parties. A few personal favorite locations include the Honolulu Zoo, the Dole Plantation, and Gunstock Ranch. Each of these venues adds a unique and memorable backdrop to the festivities, creating the perfect setting for capturing precious moments.

Typically, I set aside 15 minutes or so for family portraits during birthday events. However, I recognize that, for some, photography takes center stage. In these cases, we often venture to a park or a picturesque beach – occasionally with a cake to smash. Here, we can quietly celebrate this major milestone in a relaxed atmosphere.
