Escaping the Rain in Koolina
Rain fell hard on my early morning drive over the mountains. As I passed through the H-3 tunnel, buckets were unleashed from the skies and the car’s wipers struggled to keep up. I nervously tapped on the steering wheel and sipped my coffee. As much as I know that weather patterns vary dramatically over the island, I was unsure. Would it really be a sunny morning in Koolina as predicted? The rain followed me as I approached the west side. It was still raining in Aiea, in Pearl City, even as far as Makakilo. It didn’t start to taper until I made the exit for Koolina. There, in this small pocket of resorts and tropical fantasy, the sun was shining. Not only that, a brilliant rainbow welcomed us to the Paradise Cove Beach. Good morning Koolina.
Baby’s First Beach Day
Baby Chloe was unimpressed with the spectacle. She had eyes only for one thing – sand. And endless smorgasbord of sand stretched out before her and she was determined to eat every morsel.
The family had recently moved to the island and although they were delighted with her newfound love of the beach, this sand consumption was a bit worrying. How much sand is too much?
We spent a lovely morning dipping our toes in the shallows, giving extra tight hugs, laughing, and, well, trying to keep Chloe from eating all the sand. Another perfect beach day in Hawaii and a great first beach day for this baby.
