Time in Paradise
After four years of living in Hawaii, this soccer-loving, energetic family of six was returning to their native Australia. At 6-years-old, the youngest was taking an American accent back with her. Returning home is always bittersweet. As they return to their sun-drenched country, they leave behind, not only friends, but favorite landscapes and activities from their happy island life. Therefore, a photo session was in order to capture the feeling of their time in Hawaii. Besides, it was a great excuse to take a break from the chaos of packing for an international move and enjoy time together as a family. They wanted to make some lasting memories in their favorite places.
Lanikai Beach Family Photography
Deciding where to go was tricky. This Kailua-based family definitely wanted to incorporate the iconic Mokula islands which decorated their backyard, but we couldn’t decide to meet on the beach or on a hike. In the end, we decided on both. In the brisk morning air, we kicked around a soccer ball waiting for the sun to rise over Lanikai Beach. We played and laughed in the warm sun until it was time to send the kids to school.
So we meet again
Later that afternoon we met again for their favorite hike – the Lanikai pillbox hike. Up we climbed scrambling over rocks with the kids alternately racing and helping each other. This was a trail they knew well and they moved with ease. At the top, we were able to take in more stunning views as the sun sank behind the mountains. A fitting end to their time in Hawaii.
