First family photos
There’s something special about that moment when you celebrate your new family status. Now, a family of three. I met them at Makapuu Beach as the sun began to warm the horizon, hinting at the warm day to come. Raphael sat in his car seat looking a little confused by the strange morning adventure. Once his toes touched the sand, however, he was happy to explore.
The Wild Things
Melissa is a big fan of Maurice Sendak’s, Where the Wild Things Are. She brought along a little tent to add a sense of wild adventure and we switched locations to the tall ironwood forest down the road at Waimanalo Beach. Raphael fell fast asleep during the 5 minute drive. Nothing would wake him up before he was ready. We walked down the beach searching for the best location, set up the tent, had a snack, and only then did he open his big eyes. He looked around curiously, but didn’t utter a single cry of protest. After exploring his tent for a bit and snuggling with mom, it was time for a serious nap.
