This wonderful family has been splitting their time between Oahu and Nebraska over the past three years. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph them and their adventurous boys each time they’re in town. The lagoons at Koolina are their backyard and playground so we met there for a fun morning of exploration and snorkeling.
A Koolina Adventure
The boys are starting school this year and schools get very cranky when their kids are absent, so this may be their last long trip to the island. We made the most of it with a visit to Kahe Point to take in views of the Waianae Coast, look for pirate treasure and fly airplanes. Then we hit the beach at Paradise Cove with new snorkel masks. Have you tried one of these masks before? They fit over your whole face so you don’t have to fuss with your snorkel and they give you better visibility. After seeing these kids cruise around the cove easily chasing fish and each other, I bought one for my own kids. So far so good, but there is some controversy surrounding how safe the masks are. They’re harder to remove if you flood your mask, so I make sure to keep a close eye on them.
We enjoyed a beautiful morning and captured it with both a family films and photography …
