I love a family who loves the water. It give me an excuse to jump in myself and use my underwater camera. Plus there’s something about the water that inspires pure joy and happiness. Even the shyest, most reserved kids can’t help but have a great time. Both of the boys are experienced swimmers, but have little experience in the ocean. We weren’t sure how they would react. It turned out to be such a calm day that the ocean was just like a swimming pool … a pool with sea creatures in it. That’s the best kind of pool in my opinion.
After playing on dry land for a bit, I handed them a couple of nets and they set to work. We were too slow to catch any fish, but did find several hermit crabs and one squishy sea cucumber to keep us busy. We ended with a bit of body board action. With no waves to charge they went after the camera instead. Both boys left that morning with a new found love of the ocean.

These pics are amazing. My sister in law is a photographer in NC and she is coming here for Christmas with her 2 kids since her hubby is deployed. I was wondering if you could share the location of this shoot with me? I’m new to the island, so I don’t recognize it. Mahalo!
Thanks Heather! It is a beautiful spot and perfect for kids. It’s called Paradise Cove and it’s located in Koolina. You can find it easily on Google maps. Have fun!
