I was digging through photographs from 2014 when I stumbled across this session I never blogged. It has a bit of sentimental value since it was one of the first times I got to use my underwater camera. This family was here on vacation and thought it would be fun to add some water play to the end of their session. It was a big reason they came to Hawaii after all. They are a wonderfully sweet, water-loving family. Ian is a big fan of boats, sunken ships and sharks and his little sister loves pretty much anything her big brother does; a bit of a tomboy who loves to explore. The surf was pounding throughout much of the island, so we decided on the mellow waters at Paradise Cove. Not only was it a short walk from where they were staying at Aulani, but there’s always a good chance you can find a sea turtle there.
Of course when I bought my underwater camera, I had envisioned sunny skies and clear blue water. I was a little more skeptical under a cloudy, winter sky. The kids had no such hesitations. They eagerly jumped in and I followed suit. Mom and dad wanted to stay dry, so I got to show them different reef fish, and crabs, and even a couple turtles. Rumbling bellies eventually forced us back to dry land, but it was such a fun morning they planned to return the next day.
