Chris is a fantastic wedding photographer based in Sacramento. He brought his family to Oahu for a much needing vacation after the hectic, summer wedding season and decided to have some family portraits taken. Sounds innocent enough, but children of photographers have to put up with cameras in their face more than average. Their little lives are thoroughly documented starting at birth and they tend to pass through phases of acceptance and denial to this lifestyle. Arianna was firmly entrenched in the later phase and was not too happy with me. You could see her face fall when I brought out my camera. “No!” she said simply. Fair enough, I gave her lots of space and let the island magic take over. You can’t deny the fun that is a Hawaiian beach on a beautiful morning. At least not for long. Soon she was splashing in the water and investigating hermit crabs and all was forgiven.
My favorite moment of the morning was a brief rain shower followed by a rainbow, which was greeted with great joy. It slowly disappeared and Arianna broke into tears at its loss. Such a sweet little girl.
