Leaving Hawaii
“We’re leaving Hawaii and want photos before we move.” Ugh, those words – I feel them in the pit of my stomach. It’s so hard to leave. Hawaii spoils you. The weather is flat out amazing. Okay, okay some people complain that they miss snow or fall leaves, but you can make a little trip to the west coast every now and then to satisfy your cold cravings. Personally, I’ll enjoy my favorite season (The best season. That’s right, I said it.) all year long. Warning : kids born into this environment are often afflicted with a reluctance to wear shoes and outerwear when transported to the mainland.
One Glorious Beach Day
Planning the session was easy. They wanted one glorious beach day at Bellows Beach, their favorite spot on the island. They didn’t want anything formal or forced, just them talking and playing and exploring the beach. As soon as we hit the sand, the kids eagerly began searching for shells and sea glass, poking at holes in the sand and chasing ghost crabs down the beach. They quickly accumulated an impressive treasure collection and decided it was time to jump in the water. They took turns with dad, squealing with delight as each wave crashed around them. And just like that the sun began to sink and the air began to cool. One day of beach memories, captured forever.
P.S. That toddler tooth gap is maybe the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
