When she was little, Tara lived in Hawaii. It was only briefly, but the memories of splashing along the white sand beaches with the sun warming her back lingered. She returned many years later for her honeymoon and fell in love with the Islands all over again. Twenty years later she planned a special anniversary trip to celebrate and introduce her children to the place she held so near and dear.
As a former family photographer herself, a photo session during their visit was a must. She liked the contrast of forest, ocean, and mountains so we met at Waimanlo Beach Park on a salty afternoon. We chatted as we walked down the beach and it became apparent how different the girls were in personality. One was animated and chatty, the other reserved and shy. One a water lover, the other happier to play on the shore. Despite their differences they were the best of friends. We explored the forest for a bit and made sand castles before deciding to brave the waves. The surf was overhead and Anna was eager to try it for the first time. As the sun faded we jumped into the ocean and practiced duck-diving and body surfing. We left the beach exhilarated, tired, and happy.
