Morning in Paradise
Paradise Cove Beach hummed with pounding surf in the wake of a recent tropical storm. Slowly, tentatively he made his way towards the ocean. His chubby hand was firmly clamped around dad’s finger and his gaze was steady. Step by careful step he inched closer to the water, only pausing once to look at the sand accumulating between his toes. And finally he was there with toes exploring the surf for the very first time. His face flickered with mixed emotions before ultimately landing on terror as a big wave rumbled past.
Returning Home
Erin and Greg spent several memorable years living on Oahu. Although they currently live in Washington, they dream of the day they might return for good. This was their first trip back to Hawaii and it was a special one. Not only were they introducing baby Sam to their former island home, but they were also celebrating a first birthday and a 7 year anniversary. Good stuff.
Sam quickly recovered from the wave incident and set about exploring. He tried desperately to take in all the sights and sounds at once. He was at once bold and tentative wanting independence one minute and tight cuddles the next. And then he discovered the simple joy of splashing. He splashed and laughed until every last ounce of energy was spent and it was time to head back to the hotel. Operation beach day was a success. A morning they will never forget.
