A bout of pneumonia was slowing me down. Nothing too miserable, but it felt as if the rest of the world was in fast motion. I slowly made my way up the coast to Laie Beach Park, one of my favorite photo locations on Oahu, to meet a family visiting all the way from Maryland. Tim and Christina pulled up next to me and the kids bounded out of the car in a flash of neon and giggles. Straight to the beach they ran, kicking up plumes of sand in their wake. I grabbed my gear, shook off the grogginess and quickly dashed after them.
Our time together flashed by in a blur of exploration, rogue waves, and deep belly laughs. We examined every stick, crab hole, and coconut along the shore and shared silly stories. Amidst the excitement and energy were a few quiet moments for hugs and cuddles. And then they were off again, climbing trees and rocks and racing down the beach. Before I knew it, the sun was setting and it was time to go home. Their energy was infectious and I left feeling much better than when I arrived.
Do you have a fun, energetic family? Let’s plan an afternoon exploring together. We can visit a favorite spot or maybe I can take you some place new and unexpected! Find out more about my fun family photography sessions here.
