A reason to celebrate
A fiftieth anniversary celebration. What better reason to plan a north shore family reunion? Their oldest grandchild was also about to leave for college. With my oldest only seven years old that feels monumental … and scary. This close-knit family wanted to hold on a bit tighter and spend their last few weeks together before her move. And they went all out. Not only did they find a beautiful rental on the north shore where they could kick up their feet and watch the sun sink into the ocean, but they planned a trip packed full of adventure. They hiked all over the island from nearby Kaena Point to Diamond Head to windward waterfalls. They surfed and snorkeled and sampled searched for tasty food.
An evening of silliness
The evening we met, the group had just returned from their Diamond Head hike and they were fresh and ready to go. With boundless energy, they joked and laughed as we followed the good light from the house to the beach. There were some impressive flips and silly antics amidst the swirling wind and we finally turned back as the sun set. I left them eagerly planning their next day’s adventure.
