Here for the right reasons
Esther and her family were visiting Oahu for a wedding and they decided to schedule a family photo session for themselves. They have the most adorable little baby boy and honestly, he needed to be celebrated in photos. He’s just that cute. Throw in a bow tie and he’s downright irresistible. They had done the studio thing in the past, but wanted something more natural – to capture some real family moments with a beautiful background.
A windward sunrise for Oahu family beach photography
Visiting from the east coast meant they were getting up super early every morning. Too early, really. The one upside is that they were able to enjoy the most stunning sunrises with ease. We scheduled their session for a sunny, calm morning on the windward side at Bellows Beach and were treated to another epic sunrise.
Waves gently lapped the shore as we walked across crisp sand leaving the first footprints of the day. In the distance clouds hugged the mountain tops and the deep blue of the ocean was punctuated by offshore islands
A baby friendly beach
The shoreline at Bellows Beach has a gentle slope making it a prime location for water-loving babies who haven’t mastered the surf. Slowly they got closer to the water. First toes, than chubby baby thighs and finally they were all in.
Few babies love the ocean at first sight. They might love the bath or pool, but all those waves make them a little nervous. Ah, but little Elijah is a born water baby. He was completely comfortable even though they live nowhere near the ocean.
And we had all that beach to ourselves. No fancy Photoshopping here. There wasn’t a soul in sight. A perfect day for Oahu family beach photography.
