The girls spilled out of the car in a flurry of hair brushes and giggles. They were running behind for our morning photo session and still wearing their pajamas. Mom and dad tugged at their hair and pulled on dresses while the girls strained for freedom. So close to the beach! At last they broke free and sprinted on ahead. They wanted to chase the sunrise. Four-year-old Ellie stopped in her tracks when she arrived at the ocean’s edge. She took a rare quiet moment to take it all in. Her sister broke the spell with a big tackle and they were off running again.
Although Jean was born on Oahu, she had to move to the west coast and likes to visit every chance she gets. This was her first time back with both girls and they were loving every minute of it. The girls are definitely water lovers and their plans included snorkeling, kayaking, paddling and eating great food all over the island. We ran and played and danced in the warm sand until it became hot sand. That was our cue to jump in. On came the swimsuits and in they went screaming with delight at each new wave. The perfect start to a family vacation.
