What is the best Oahu pumpkin patch?
Over the years, multiple options for Oahu pumpkin patches have appeared. The original, and the biggest at Aloun Farms was quickly followed by the smaller, scenic affair at Waimanalo Country Farms and finally by a smaller community event – the Great Pumpkin Festival at Holy Nativity School. But which Oahu pumpkin patch is best?
Aloun Farms
A large, 3,000 acre working farm in Kapolei hosts a pumpkin festival the last 3 weekends in October.
- The most authentic Oahu pumpkin patch experience as you harvest the pumpkins from the vine vs pumpkins scattered in a field.
- It’s a very large, busy event with many activities, a farmer’s market, craft vendors, sunflower fields, and keiki rides. Pets are even welcome to attend!
- It’s usually sunny and super hot.

A family run 52-acre farm in Waimanalo that is known for their sunflowers, corn, and pumpkin patch.
- With openings Mondays-Sundays starting September 30th through November 12th, it’s the pumpkin patch with the most availability.
- Waimanalo hosts a smaller affair with weekday availability giving you the opportunity to explore the farm in a peaceful environment.
- The focus here is the petting zoo, hay ride, pumpkin patch, sunflower field and tasty treats like homemade lemonade and ice tea.
- The sunflowers and mountains provide a stunning backdrop.

A Visit to Waimanalo Country Farms
Our first visit to an Oahu pumpkin patch was at Waimanalo Country Farms for a school field trip in 2016. I was a little surprised to discover the pumpkins scattered around an old corn field but the kids didn’t seem to notice. They were too busy finding their perfect pumpkin. They enjoyed the tractor ride and petting zoo and especially loved the homemade lemonade.
They’ve made changes and expanded over the years, most notable is the addition of the sunflower field which is absolutely delightful.
Which Oahu pumpkin patch is best?
Aloun farms is the best option for the true farm experience with the most activities. Waimanalo Country Farms is best suited for scenery, solitude and rustic charm, while the Great Pumpkin Festival at Holy Nativity School is more of a fun family event. In short, It really depends on the experience you’re looking for. While you decide, I leave you with a pumpkin picking technique from 5-year-old Mila. “Knock on it. You have to find the one with the best beat.”
