One of the best things (the best thing?) about being a family photographer is simply watching families grow over time. To photograph a family well is to know them. To understand them. During a session I play the role of observer. There are universal truths among families; small details in the way a mother comforts her child or the look of a proud dad. I delight in finding these similarities. It’s a common thread that links us all. Yet, at the same time each family is so delightfully unique. At the end of the process I find myself inextricably attached to my clients. As a result I love nothing better to see them again and document their lives as babies grow into toddlers, as milestones are passed and as new sisters and brothers expand the family.
This is one of my families. A Lanikai Beach family with the sweetest curly-haired towhead around. He has an intense love of puzzles and books and precocious attitude towards life. You can’t help but feel that he’s destined for great things. This will be their last year in Lanikai before moving to town so we had to capture some their day to day before they go. Can’t wait to see you again next year!
Families change and grow so rapidly. I’m a bit of a wizard. I can stop time, if only for a bit, so you can hold onto these memories long into the future. Find out more about my family photography sessions here. And yes, I do love fantasy novels.
