A Windy Morning
It’s called the windward side for good reason. The wind howled and towering pines swayed overhead as we made our way to the beach on a brisk Hawaii morning. And yes, if you’re wondering, the technical definition of brisk is low 70’s. Brrrr. I’m pretty sure I was wearing socks and slippers, but the Houston family was completely fine. They were on vacation after all and that just makes you warmer.
Don’t let those long legs fool you, this precocious girl is only three years old. Her eloquence and confidence threw me for a loop and I had to double and triple-check that she was indeed only three. Three years old and intensely loved. She and dad were especially cute. Partly because he towered over her, but mostly because this hulk of a man didn’t flinch when she asked him to dance or sing. He crawled through the sand chasing her and they sat together quietly making sandcastles. Just precious.
