Celebrate at home with your favorite people

A first birthday party is a big deal. Not so much for the birthday baby, but for the parents. It’s a time to sit back, reflect on the crazy year you had together, and pat yourselves on the back. You made it though one of the craziest transitions in life! Kari wanted to celebrate their big day with their two sets (lucky) of wonderful grandparents who have been loving and supportive throughout their journey. And cake. You must have a delicious cake.

The big day

I joined baby Ethan on his birthday and followed him around the house as he enjoyed some of his favorite baby activities – peek-a-boo, stories, and climbing stairs. His chubby face lit up when his grandparents arrived and then it was time to try his first bite of cake. He was tentative and thoughtful at first, but with a subtle nod, confirmed it was delicious. Before we realized what was happening, he whipped his hand at the cake and grabbed a solid fistful of frosting before anyone could stop him. My kind of baby. We ended the day with an evening stroll to feed the ducks. Happy Birthday little guy!
