Sunrise at Yokohama Bay is a pastel palette blanketing a rugged landscape. You emerge from the car after a long drive and feel salty serenity – as if you’re the only people on the island and quite possibly, that you’ve been transported back in time. Keep an eye on the ocean. This is the playground for resident spinner dolphins and humpback whales who like to show off with leaps, twists, and dramatic splashes.
This was the backdrop for our family photo session. Lisa and her family visit Oahu each year and love exploring new places around the island. That gets challenging with a small island, so they were up for the long morning drive to see a new place. Their eyes were heavy with sleep when they rolled out of the car to greet me. Chilly sand underfoot and the sight of crabs scampering into their holes instantly energized the group. They were off to run and splash and explore. Oh, and the little one. Full of character with animated expressions and the most contagious belly laugh. She had the whole family in stitches. Yokahama, you don’t disappoint. All vacations should be this good.
