A big, happy family
When Amanda contacted me to photograph her family of seven, I was nervous. Shaking in my boots (slippers?) a bit. They were making the trek all the from Utah for a lovely Hawaiian vacation and wanted some beautiful memories to take home. I figured if they were brave enough to make the long trip with 5 children, I was going to be brave enough to photograph them.
Before their session I asked Amanda to tell me a bit about each of the kids so I could prepare some games and ideas and pick a good location for their session. Her descriptions were just incredible. They were detailed, and heart felt, and downright moving. I felt that I knew them before I even met them and I was excited to get started.
Sunrise over Laie Beach Park
We met just as the sun rose over Laie Beach Park. It was a perfectly beautiful morning. Salt spray filled the air as they twirled and ran, dug holes and climbed trees, and even tested the limits of a tree swing. I could definitely see how the littlest “spicy” got his nickname and it was so much fun to watch the family dynamics unfold. The older kids have devolved special bonds with the younger kids. Each naturally paired up with a little one who received extra hugs and care. It was the sweetest thing. Turns out with a family this close, 5 kids is just more fun.
Is your family planning a visit to the Laie area?
I would love to capture some wonderful memories for your family if you’re planning a trip to Oahu. Find out more about my fun family photography sessions here.
