Caroline glanced out her window while we talked and remarked on her backyard views from her home in Switzerland. Lake Geneva shimmered in the distance as mountains rose up to meet a brilliant blue sky. Wildflowers dotted the countryside in a setting quiet enough to hear bird song. I was ready to hop on a plane to Europe and she was equally enamored with thoughts of travel to Hawaii with its tropical greens and blues.
I hoped their long journey from the other side of the world would be worth it, and it turns out, Hawaii doesn’t disappoint. We scheduled their family photo session in the green solitude of Laie Beach Park. A lovely, soft sunrise was a perfect start to the day. We laughed and played in the light morning breeze. Pounding surf sent up clouds of salt spray which hung in the air, clinging to our eyelashes. The girls were ready to jump in the surf right away, but we held back a bit. There was a tree swing to explore. Everyone took their turn among squeals of delight and then they could wait no longer. Into the water they ran, further and further until waves crashed over their heads. It was a beautiful morning of big adventure and big laughs.
